The Happy COM-500 is a sewing machine for home use. It is easy to use and versatile. It offers precise, Japanese-designed engineering. Ideal for keen hobbyists and light professional users who want more advanced features than a standard home machine.

Positioned as a machine for a beginner, intermediate or advanced user who wants one machine for sewing and embroidery.

Key Sewing Technology and Fabric Handling

The Happy Box Feed System moves the feed dog horizontally so the fabric stays in contact longer. This reduces slipping on thin or stretchy materials and helps avoid puckering on lightweight fabrics.

The 7-piece feed dog works with the box feed to provide more contact points under the fabric. More teeth mean smoother fabric transport and steadier stitch length when you sew layers or slippery fabrics.

The machine uses an improved presser foot with a wider movement range to hold fabric firmly. That helps prevent skipped stitches on heavy fabrics like denim and keeps lightweight fabric flat when stitching.

Adjust presser foot pressure to suit fabric thickness: lower for thin/stretchy knits to prevent stretching, higher for bulky or layered fabrics for even feeding, cleaner seams, and less shifting..

The drop feed lowers the feed dog so you can move fabric freely for free-motion sewing or embroidery tasks. This is useful for quilting, darning, or decorative freehand work where you guide the fabric yourself.

Removable accessory box gives you a free arm for sewing cuffs, sleeves, and tubes. It makes stitching narrow and round pieces easier. With drop feed, it supports decorative quilting and garment finishing.

Stitching Precision and Thread Management

The COM-500 uses computerised automatic thread tension to set upper thread tightness for each selected stitch. You pick a stitch pattern and the machine adjusts tension values so stitches lie flat on most fabrics. This reduces the need for manual trial-and-error when switching between cotton, knits, or heavier material.

A manual tension dial adjusts pressure for specialty fabrics, reducing skipped stitches and producing smoother seams across various materials.

The COM-500 includes an automatic thread cutter that trims both the upper and bobbin threads at the end of a seam. You press the cutter button and the machine cuts threads short so you don’t need scissors for routine finishing. The thread cutter reduces fraying, runs quietly, and allows manual trimming with scissors or machine options when needed.

A built-in thread sensor watches the needle thread and stops the machine if the thread breaks or is missing. This prevents stitching to continue with no upper thread and avoids ruined seams. The sensor gives an immediate alert so you can rethread and resume.

A guided threading system with a one-step needle threader and sensor speeds setup and reduces frustration. The needle up/down button precisely positions the needle to improve pivoting, seam alignment, and accurate sewing.

Tack stitch adds reinforcing lock stitches at starts or ends to prevent unraveling and enable neat, secure pivots.

Customisation, Embroidery, and Accessories

You can attach the EU-5 embroidery unit to convert the COM-500 into an embroidery machine. The unit mounts directly to the machine and offers an embroidery field large enough for many home projects. This lets you embroider motifs, names, and designs without buying a separate machine.

The machine’s lettering stitch mode lets you combine, size, and place letters with patterns. Use it to make garment monograms and labels.

A wide extension table increases your sewing surface for larger projects like quilts and curtains. The table snaps onto the front of the machine and gives steady support for bulky fabric. It reduces drag and keeps seams straight when you work on large, bulky pieces.

The foot controller gives you hands-free speed control. You press it like a car pedal to start, speed up, or slow the machine, which helps when guiding fabric through detailed work. It connects to the machine with a cable for reliable response.

The presser foot lifter raises and lowers the presser foot easily. It has clear settings to keep the foot level for thick fabric. You’ll use this for layering, binding, or adding trims where extra clearance prevents fabric bunching.

COM-500’s removable accessory box stores small parts and becomes a free-arm cover for sewing sleeves and pant legs; LED light, needle up/down, and drop-feed enable quick, tidy task changes.
