Happy Japan Domestic Machine Warranty Terms & Conditions
Happy Japan domestic sewing machines are designed to provide many years of reliable and productive sewing. For your complete peace of mind, we are pleased to offer a 5 Year Parts and Labour Warranty on eligible new Happy Japan domestic sewing machines purchased from an authorised Happy Japan UK retailer.
Packaging Requirements
To maintain the validity of the warranty, customers must retain the machine’s original packaging in full, including all boxes, protective inserts, polystyrene supports, and transit packaging materials supplied with the machine at the time of purchase.
The original packaging is required to ensure the machine can be transported safely for servicing, inspection, or warranty repair. Failure to retain and use the original packaging when returning the machine may result in the warranty becoming invalid, particularly where damage occurs during transit due to inadequate packaging.
Warranty Coverage
This warranty covers defects in parts and workmanship under normal domestic use for a period of five (5) years from the original date of purchase.
The warranty applies only to machines:
- Purchased new from an authorised Happy Japan UK retailer;
- Registered in accordance with these Terms & Conditions; and
- Maintained and serviced as outlined below.
Warranty Registration
To activate the warranty, the completed Warranty Registration form within 90 days of purchase. The Warranty Registration form can be accessed via the official Happy Japan UK website: www.happyjapanuk.com
Upon successful registration, a Certificate of Extended Warranty will be issued, detailing the warranty conditions and including a service record to be completed by an authorised Happy Japan service engineer.
Servicing Requirements
To maintain the validity of the warranty:
- The machine must be used, cleaned, and maintained in accordance with the maintenance instructions provided in the machine care and servicing guide.
- The machine must be serviced by an authorised Happy Japan retailer or authorised Happy Japan service engineer at a minimum of every two (2) years from the original purchase date.
- Proof of servicing and completed service records must be retained and presented in the event of a warranty claim.
Failure to comply with the servicing requirements may invalidate the warranty.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover:
- Damage caused by misuse, neglect, accidental damage, improper maintenance, or unauthorised repairs;
- Consumable items, including but not limited to needles, bobbins, bulbs, belts, blades, or accessories subject to normal wear and tear;
- Cosmetic damage that does not affect machine operation;
- Machines that have been altered or modified without authorisation.
Commercial & Educational Use
This warranty is intended for private domestic use only and does not apply to machines used in:
- Schools;
- Colleges or universities;
- Training centres;
- Commercial or industrial environments;
- Business or production use.
If the machine is intended for any of the above purposes, please contact your authorised Happy Japan retailer to discuss alternative warranty arrangements.
Transferability
The warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser of the machine.
Statutory Rights
This warranty is provided in addition to your statutory rights and does not affect your legal rights under applicable consumer protection laws.
Exclusions
The warranty does not cover:
- Accidental damage, misuse, neglect, improper operation, or failure to follow the maintenance instructions outlined in the user manual;
- General wear and tear resulting from normal use;
- Consumable or replaceable items including, but not limited to, needles, bolts, bobbins, bulbs, belts, knives, and other routine service parts;
- Cosmetic damage that does not affect the operation of the machine;
- Repairs or modifications carried out by unauthorised persons.
The 5 Year Warranty applies only to machines used for normal domestic purposes.
Machines used for commercial, educational, training, teaching, industrial, or business purposes are not covered under the extended domestic warranty. Please contact your authorised Happy Japan retailer to discuss warranty options for commercial or educational use.
The warranty does not apply to any products or machine ranges specifically excluded from the promotion or supplied outside the authorised Happy Japan UK dealer network.
Warranty Repairs & Returns
Any work carried out under this warranty must be completed by an authorised Happy Japan retailer or authorised Happy Japan service engineer.
For warranty repairs or inspection, the machine must be returned either to:
- The authorised Happy Japan retailer from whom the machine was purchased; or
- An authorised Happy Japan service centre or distributor as advised at the time of the claim.
The owner is responsible for all transportation, shipping, and insurance costs associated with returning the machine for warranty work, however collection and return services may be available through the supplying retailer for an additional charge.
The warranty does not cover damage sustained in transit to or from the service location.
